The Truth About Jews And Arabs
Last year, I was called a terrorist and a murderer by a 13 year old girl. I was in Jerusalem when all of a sudden an Orthodox Jew passed by.
"Everything okay?"
"Everything is okay. Hakuna Matata."
He wanted to be friends with me until he learned that I was an Arab.
"Yes, I'm Palestinian-Israeli!"
"You look very...intelligent."
He was in shock because in his mind Arabs cannot speak English and are not intelligent.
"I work with many Arabs. They're not intelligent. They're barbaric."
His 13-year-old sister joined and agreed with him. She too, hated Arabs.
"If it were up to me, I wouldn't let any Arab enter this area."
"But why not?"
"Because they kill us!"
I was sitting there in disbelief at how much hate is coming from old and young people alike.
"No. All Arabs are terrorists."
From both Jews and Arabs alike.
"There is no single Arab that's not a terrorist."
"But I'm not a Terrorist!"
"You're not!"
"But I am Arab."
"You're not Arab!"
"I speak Arabic!"
"Why is he a terrorist? Does he wanna kill you?"
"I wanna be your friend."
"No. All Arabs are terrorists."
This was one of the lowest points of my journey but what happened next needs to be seen because it was incredible.
The racist guy and his sister left without saying a word and left me disappointed but not for long. Immediately after, three other young orthodox Jewish girls walked by.
"We were just talking about you!"
"Really?! Hi, hi!"
And unlike the first two they didn't care that I was Arab or Palestinian or Muslim or whatever!
"Another thing that's cool, two days after I went to Eilat city, I saw your video about Eilat! We did all the same stuff!"
"Thank you so much! You guys are so nice."
They just wanted to be friends. And with these three Jewish girls, I, the Muslim Arab had the most simple, boring conversation and I loved it.
"What's the best place to visit?"
"Philippines! You must go visit!"
There was no hate and no racism. It sounds basic, but it's really not. Because the majority of Jews and Arabs actually want to get along. Don't let the few bad apples ruin it for everybody!
This beautiful encounter is one out of millions between Jews and Arabs.
"They're so nice!"
"You, too!"
